\OFFICIAL RECEIPT OF DRIVER’S LICENSE, TEMPORARY USED AS LICENSE – LTO
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) WILL ALLOW the Official Receipt (OR) or the receipt issued when obtaining a driver’s license to be used as a temporary driver’s license.
This step by LTO is in front of the expected supply of plastic cards used in the production of driver’s license.
Under the Memorandum issued by LTO, regional and district offices are advised that in case the supply of plastic cards for driver’s license runs out, they will use the Official Receipt as “Temporary Driver’s License.” ” The OR needs complete details, a unique QR code, and screenshots of the front and back of the driver’s license card.
Regional directors of LTO are also urged to have the re-allocation of the supply of plastic cards to their constituents when needed.
According to the latest data of LTO, there are only 147,522 plastic cards that can be used for printing driver’s license that could possibly be reached by the end of this month.
“That’s why LTO immediately take steps to meet this expected shortage. The LTO also met with the law enforcers like the PNP Highway Patrol Group to inform them that if they catch traffic violators, it will also be accepted if the motorist will only show OR,” according to LTO Chief Tugade.
This rule will be in place until plastic driver’s license cards can be printed. LTO is currently waiting for the completion of the procurement process of plastic cards managed by the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
“As soon as DOTr gives notice that there is already a supply of plastic cards, we will immediately start printing driver’s license,” the LTO Chief added.
